William MacDonald PM

Lodge Loch Fyne mourned the passing of Brother William MacDonald, affectionately known as Wee Willie. Following a long illness, bravely borne, Wee Willie passed to the Grand Lodge above on Monday 24th April 2006.

In a fitting and touching eulogy PM Douglas Philand told of how Willie had been a stalwart of Lodge Loch Fyne. His work as Master, in the Lodge and in the social club over many, many years had been much apprieciated by all the Brethren. Willie's honest and direct advice had been welcomed by many of the Masters who followed him, and his council had been sought by old and young alike.

Do not be surprised if you find you smile a little when you think of Wee Willie. That was the mark of the man. Never a comedian but someone thought of with a smile on your lips and never a frown on your forehead.

He will be greatly missed by all in Lodge Loch Fyne. Our deepest condolences go to his family.

OBITUARIES

Eric E Coles PM

Brother Eric E Coles, Past Master of Lodge Loch Fyne, was Provincial Grand Master of Argyll and the Isles at the time of passing to the Grand Lodge Above, in December 2007.

Brother Coles joined freemasonry in his 44th Year, on the 17th April 1980. He soon became a stalwart of Lodge Loch Fyne filling many posts and carrying out many labours for the Lodge, all in a most excellent fashion. He became Master of the Lodge in 1990 and again in 1991.

In 1994 he was appointed Lodge Secretary, a post he filled with great diligence and dignity until 2003.

His tireless work in the Provincial Grand Lodge was recognised when he was appointed Provincial Grand Master of Argyll and the Isles in 2003, the first member of Lodge Loch Fyne to fill this position.

His devotion to Freemasonry in Argyll, and to Lodge Loch Fyne in particular, will be greatly missed by all. His wisdom and council was greatly sought and freely given.

Our deepest condolences go to his family.
